Healthcare Programs

Great Bay Community College offers two medical programs to students looking to pursue a job in the healthcare field.

Medical Assistant Training Program

Learn to assist physicians by performing functions related to the administrative and clinical responsibilities of a medical office.

Great Bay Community College, in partnership with Core Physicians and Wentworth-Douglass Physician Corp., has developed a twelve-week Medical Assistant Certificate program of 320 hours of classroom instruction, hands-on lab experiences and a 160-hour externship at local medical offices.

New! Phlebotomy Training Program

The Phlebotomy training program gives you the opportunity to learn the skills necessary to become a phlebotomist.

During this 8-week (64 hour) program  you will gain the theoretical, interpersonal, as well as clinical skills necessary to become a phlebotomist.  At the conclusion of the program, you will be well prepared for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) certification exam through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).

Licensed Nursing Assistant (LNA) Training Program

The LNA training program prepares you to work in a vital role providing direct patient care and emphasizes many areas of healthcare education including infection control, safety and proper body mechanics.

This five-week program, approved by the NH Board of Nursing and run by Manchester Community College, is now offered in Portsmouth at Great Bay Community College. It combines in-person instruction (24 hours clinical lab instruction & 60 hours of clinical training at a local healthcare facility) and 60 hours of online work.
